Transparency, Accountability, and Legal Compliance
PMED is committed to ensuring that its funding and activities meet the highest ethical and legal standards. To achieve this:
- The PMED Board of Directors performs annual audits of all fiscal activities.
- PMED funders, partners, and program recipients are screened to assure compliance with all processes, procedures, and laws of the United States.
- PMED activities are in compliance with the United States’ “Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act” guidelines protecting the confidentiality of medical records. PMED activities comply with confidentiality guidelines as may apply to PMED’s international partners, such as the United Kingdom’s “Access to Health Records Act” and “Data Protection Act.”
PMED is registered as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization with the Internal Revenue Service. It is also registered as a nonprofit with the Palestinian Authority.
